Studying a liquid at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Lab.

MDI is continuing research in collaboration with scientists at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory and the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Labratory. This work is focused on materials in extreme conditions and a project to combine small and wide angle x-ray scattering to help understand how the atoms in liquids and glasses behave. Work on developing amorphous pharmaceuticals is continuing successfully. Experiments on the International Space Station are being used to measure the viscosity of liquids and help to understand the nature of glass formation and the behavior of supercooled molten materials. Work is ongoing to develop computer-based control of our acoustic levitators.
